Introduction

My name is Bill. I live in Abingdon, VA and have been in Southwest Virginia since 2005. I grew up fishing in the Catskills on the Neversink and Beaverkill Rivers and now fish the stocked streams around the southern I-81 corridor.

Most seasons I get right around 50 days on the water, hitting well over 100 during 2020. This puts my sustained experience in the top 15% for fly fishing.

When I was younger I utilized services on the Catskill fly shop’s fishing reports regularly. They did daily reports of water levels and what bugs to look out for. What I’m aiming to do is share what I see and the discussion my fishing group and I have about what’s been working, what we’re going to try, and give a basic water level reading for some common areas.

I will not be sharing secret spots or where the big fish are right now, etc. If you enjoy fly fishing and are in SWVA, pick a class A stocked stream and spend time fishing it. They’ll all fish well.
