It’s hot! Nonstop 80+ degree days. I went and took some stream temps yesterday afternoon on my way to a warm water lake.
Time: 4:15pm. Air Temp: 80 degrees.
Beaverdam Creek in the Park: 71 degrees
Big Laurel: 71 degrees
Whitetop Laurel at Straight Branch: 70 degrees
Moral of the story? It’s too hot for trout in the afternoons. Try in the mornings, but check those temps. 67 degrees starts to be the danger zone. Plan to keep all you hook in those temps.
