It’s been a long time since I’ve fished for trout!
Most of the time the heat and water conditions sent me in search of smallies. Finally cool enough weather to entertain trout.
Air temp was 73 and water temp was 66 when I started around 4:00pm. Be carefeul fishing midday.
Small mahogany duns size 14/16, tan caddis size 16/18 and larger cream mayflies 12/14 were in the air. The cream mayfly did not appear to be a cream cahill but was cream colored with a butterscotch colored thorax. I’ll be tying some up before I go back out.
Took over a dozen on those dry flies. Search out the deeper water with current and avoid the midday heat.
